Product Description If you're enrolled in an executive education or MBA program, you've probably encountered a powerful learning tool: the business case. But if you're like many people, you may find interpreting and writing about cases mystifying, challenging, or downright frustrating. In "The Case Study Handbook", William Ellet presents a potent new approach for analyzing, discussing, and writing about cases. Early chapters show how to classify cases according to the analytical task they require (solving a problem, making a decision, or forming an evaluation) and quickly establish a base of knowledge about a case. Strategies and templates, in addition to several sample Harvard Business School cases, help you apply the author's framework. Later in the book, Ellet shows how to write persuasive case-analytical essays based on the process laid out earlier. Extensive examples of effective and ineffective writing further reinforce your learning. The book also includes a chapter on how to talk about cases more effectively in class. Any current or prospective MBA or executive education student needs to read this book.

Comprehensive case study book September 15, 2008 Valerie Rose Pidcock (Vancouver, BC, Canada) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great book for first-timers when it comes to cases. Completely and succintly outlines how to analyze cases.
A guide to writing the belongs next to any style or composition classic May 31, 2007 Clark Aldrich (Madison, CT USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you write for a living, or just as part of your job, you owe it to yourself to get this great book. The techniques of writing case studies forces one to be more open, more inquisitive, and think more about the way the material will be used. Of course if you actually have to produce case studies, then I can only assume you already have this.

This book was the one that I was looking for, and it was delivered quickly.
Excellent help in classroom August 7, 2009 Instructor (St. Louis, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I teach an intensive preorientation class for incoming MBAs from overseas. Because the structure of classroom interaction and the expectations for critical thinking are often quite different in other countries, my students need clear, comprehensive information, practice, and examples about the case study method. This book covers the processes involved in studying cases very thoroughly. With cross-cultural additions from me and my other instructors, the international students are well-prepared to enter their MBA program.
A must to any MBA student March 3, 2010 eapv (Sunrise, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is great help in understanding how to deal with Cases. But what you learn here can be used in how to structure a proposal for change in your job. I wish I have read it earlier...
